Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will showcase some of Arizona's hottest bands this summer in the cool comfort of its Virginia G. Piper Theater.  Audiences are encouraged to arrive early at 6 p.m. to enjoy $5 happy-hour drink specials and modern Mexican tacos from Distrito. Each concert will begin at 8:00 p.m.

Music at 8pm by THE SUGAR THIEVES

Dubbed the "Meat Shakin' Blues Band," The Sugar Thieves are a perfect mix of American music, with sounds of New Orleans, Memphis, Chicago and Mississippi. They fuse blues, roots, folk, gospel and a little jazz, to make up one big bowl of sugar. The concert opens with the duo of Mikel Lander and Meridith Moore on guitar and vocals, followed by the full band.

THIS IS NOT FREE - Concert tickets are available for $10 through www.ScottsdalePerformingArts.org or 480-499-TKTS (8587).

Seating is general admission.  PLEASE PURCHASE YOUR OWN TICKET IN ADVANCE.

I will be there at 6pm.  Look for me in my tiara!
